AiV Successfully Deploys Deep Learning Inspection Solution for EV Battery Pack Components at Samkee EV
AiV, a leading provider of deep learning-based machine vision solutions, announced on the 18th that it has successfully completed the deployment of its AI-powered inspection solution for the automated inspection of electric vehicle (EV) battery pack components at Samkee EV, a leading manufacturer of EV components.
The deep learning inspection solution supplied by AiV is designed to inspect end plates—critical structural components that protect EV battery packs from external impacts—for surface defects using advanced deep learning technology. The solution consists of AI inspection software integrated with a fully automated inspection system.
The AI inspection software utilizes AiV's proprietary deep learning neural network developed specifically for manufacturing inspection applications. The model was trained using image datasets containing irregular surface defects found on end plates. In addition, AiV designed and manufactured a customized automated inspection system tailored to the customer's production environment by combining proprietary hardware design with advanced optical engineering technologies.
AiV's deep learning inspection solution is capable of detecting all major defects commonly found in high-pressure die-cast aluminum components—including porosity, dents, black skin defects, and blisters—with greater accuracy than conventional manual visual inspection. The system also incorporates a six-axis articulated robot, enabling automated inspection of the entire surface of complex three-dimensional aluminum die-cast components.
The deployed solution achieved a defect detection rate exceeding 99.9%, while maintaining a false positive rate (misclassifying good products as defective) below 3%. Compared with traditional manual inspection, the system delivers significantly higher inspection precision and consistency. Customers have also reported improvements in manufacturing productivity, process efficiency, product quality, and overall cost reduction.
Building upon this successful production deployment, AiV plans to expand its inspection solution business by focusing on manufacturers in the materials and components industry that require highly optimized, precision inspection systems. The company also intends to broaden its AI inspection software business by providing software solutions to major manufacturers and specialized equipment suppliers as demand for AI-powered quality inspection continues to grow.
Kim Chi-hwan, CEO of Samkee EV, commented:
"By implementing AiV's deep learning inspection solution for detecting defects such as porosity, dents, and black skin on high-pressure die-cast aluminum products, we have dramatically improved inspection accuracy. To further enhance inspection quality and strengthen cost competitiveness across the company, Samkee headquarters and its affiliated companies are actively introducing additional deep learning inspection solutions."
Sung Min-soo, CEO of AiV, added:
"One of the key strengths of AiV's deep learning inspection solution is our ability to provide fully customized software and hardware systems optimized for each customer's smart factory environment. We will continue expanding into broader manufacturing sectors, including automotive components and display equipment, while accelerating our global expansion to become a leading deep learning machine vision company."
